We are a dedicated team of freelance professionals working with groups of highly motivated and highly creative young people and adults with learning disabilities. Together, we’re building a world where performers and arts leaders with learning disabilities are valued as part of the rich diversity of our cultural sector and our society. We do this through:

  • Original performances which tour schools, colleges and theatres
  • Drama projects with schools, colleges and youth organisations
  • Regular creative workshops and courses for adults with learning disabilities
  • Training for Arts Award advisers, universities and practitioners
  • Bespoke consultancy and training.

Current opportunities

Creative Director (0.8 full-time equivalent from January 2027)

We’re recruiting for a brilliant Creative Director! You’ll work collaboratively with the Business Director to co-lead DIY Theatre.

The Creative Director is responsible for DIY’s artistic vision, ensuring that all activities reflect our values and ambitions, so that the lived experiences of people with learning disabilities are at the centre of everything we do.

This means shaping a financially sustainable and exciting programme of work that is artistically ambitious and built on the principles of co-creation and co-leadership.
