Workshops with adults

DIY Company Members are experienced in planning, delivering and evaluating a range of project with adults with learning difficulties. Often these projects focus on exploring experiences and issues which are important to members of the groups we are working with. We are always keen to work in partnership with other organisations, so please contact us if you would like to discuss possible collaborations or projects.

Examples of past projects include:

“Friendship Project”

During 2009-2010, DIY ran a 10-week project at St George’s Centre, Salford, which explored the theme of friendship through drama. The project was commissioned by Salford Community Health and Social Care.

Through the project, participants had opportunities to:

  • Look at what makes good friendships
  • Consider how we make and maintain good friendships
  • Explore how to deal with a range of issues within friendships
  • Share personal experiences and concerns with each-other, within a safe environment
  • Take part in a range of drama-based and arts-based activities
  • Work with an experienced group of co-facilitators with learning difficulties
  • Develop a range of personal and inter-personal skills

The MYCARE project was delivered by Wealthshare Creation in partnership with DIY Theatre Company and Looking Glass Films. The project was commissioned by LINk in Salford.

During the project, participants explored:

  • What does good health mean to us?
  • What are the barriers to good health?
