Education and Outreach
As well as making and performing theatre productions, DIY is involved in a range of education and outreach activities, which support our aims of challenging stereotypes, promoting inclusion and celebrating creativity.
Leading it…Our Way is DIY’s ambitious education and outreach initiative. It runs from 2011 to 2013 and is funded by the BIG Lottery. DIY members are co-facilitating a range of Arts Award projects with young people with learning difficulties from throughout Greater Manchester – in partnership with youth organisations, schools and colleges.
DIY is a specialist Arts Award Training Centre and we offer specialist Arts Award Adviser training for those wishing to develop accredited courses with young people with learning difficulties.
DIY also develops projects with adult groups, as well as running “DIY Drama Drop In” sessions for adults interested in drama. We can deliver one-off workshops for training days, conferences and advocacy events.
